A Discovery Flight is a 30-minute introductory flight where you sit in the left seat, take the controls with your instructor beside you, and see what learning to fly feels like — no experience or commitment required. You can book one from our home page or by calling us at (616) 344-6767. It's the best way to find out if flight training is right for you before signing up for a full course.

No prior flying experience is required. Every one of our students starts from zero. Your first lesson is often your Discovery Flight, and from there we build up systematically from basic aircraft control to solo flight to your final checkride. If you can drive a car, you can learn to fly.

There is no minimum age to start flight training — we've trained students as young as 12. However, FAA age minimums apply for milestones: you must be 16 to solo, and 17 to earn your Private Pilot Certificate. Many students start training before they can drive so they earn their pilot certificate on their 17th birthday.
